【au Email Portability】I want to apply for the service and set up the email app in my iPhone/iPad.

Please see below for details.

  • Please use Safari as your browser. If you use other browsers, it may not be possible to install the profile.
  • When you apply for au Email Portability service, all spam email filter settings will be reset. Please set it again after completing your application.

How to apply from the website

     Access the "au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運び] page from the iPhone or iPad on which you want to use service.

     Scroll the screen from bottom to top and tap on "Application/My Page Here (au ID login)" [お申込み・マイページはこちら(au IDログイン)].

    Enter the au ID of the email address that you are applying for and tap on "Next" [次へ]. If this screen is not displayed, proceed to step 5.

    【For your information】

    If you are not connected to LTE when logging in with your au ID (connected to Wi-Fi), you may be required to log in using two-step verification.

    Two-step verification

    When logging in using Wi-Fi or from other devices such as computers, a URL will be sent via text message (SMS) to the au mobile phone registered with your au ID.

    Clicking on the URL in the SMS, the authentication screen will open, and by pressing the "Allow" [許可] button to allow authentication, you will be able to log in.

    • Once the authentication is granted, the two-step verification will be skipped for a certain period on that logged in device.

    (If you log in using the LTE line on the au mobile phone registered with the au ID, the two-step verification described above is not necessary.)

    Enter your password and tap on "Log In" [ログイン].

    If this screen appears, scroll the screen from bottom to top and tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 6.

    If this screen is displayed, select the email address you would like to apply for au Email Portability and tap on "Proceed" [次へ進む].

    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 7.

    【Reference】 If the message "There are no email addresses to apply for" [申し込み対象のメールアドレスがありません] is displayed

    Application is not possible in the following cases

    • When currently under au contract (please apply within 31 days after completing au contract cancellation procedure).
    • If the number of email addresses you have applied for is over 10 (The maximum number of email addresses that can be applied for this service is up to 10 per au ID).
    • When the au line was cancelled during the temporarily suspension.

    Please check "Agree to the Terms and Conditions" [利用規約に同意する] and tap on "Apply for au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運びに申し込む].

    From then on, please proceed to set up the payment via Easy Payment. Please select the service you are currently using.  

Setting up au Easy Payment

Next, you will see the setup screen of au Easy Payment, method of payment.

The screen displayed may differ depending on the phone company and the smartphone model.

Select the applicable situation below and check the setup method.

If you are using UQ mobile or povo2.0

    Please tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.

    You will receive a text message (SMS), tap to open it.

  • 3

    Check the verification code and return to the "Service Usage Confirmation" [ご利用内容の確認] page.

    Enter the verification code and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    【Reference】If you want to change the method of payment for au Easy Payment

    For UQ mobile/povo2.0 customers, you can select "Combine with your monthly bill"「通信料合算支払い」, "Credit card"「クレジットカード支払い」, and "au PAY Card"「au PAY カード支払い」.

If you are using a service from another company

    Enter your customer information and tap "Set" [設定する].

    • For the email address, please register a non-au email address.

If you are not using any service

    • Please register an email address other than au.

How to set up the iPhone default email app

    Your application for au Email Portability has been completed. 

    Next step is the set-up of the email app. Tap on "iPhone default email app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ].

    If you want to reset your email app, log in to the My page of the au Email Portability, tap on "Email App Settings" [メールアプリの設定], and tap on "iPhone default email app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ]

    Tap on "Download Profile" [プロファイルをダウンロードする].

    Tap on "Allow" [許可].

  • 4

    Tap on "Close" [閉じる].

    Instructions for email settings (step 1 to 3) will be displayed. 

    Return to the home screen.

    From the home screen, tap on "Settings" [設定].

    Tap on "Profile is downloaded"[プロファイルがダウンロード済み]

    If this is not displayed, tap in order: "Settings" [設定]→ "General" [一般]→ "VPN and Device Management" [VPNとデバイス管理]→ "Downloaded profile" [ダウンロード済みプロファイル].

    Tap on "Downloaded profile" [ダウンロード済みのプロファイル].

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

    If a passcode is set, please input your passcode on the displayed screen.

    • This screen is for the case where a 6-digit numeric passcode is set.

    The settings are now completed. 

    Next, if your memo data is saved in 'Email', you need to move them.

How to manually configure email (when setting up a second or subsequent email addresses)

If you have already applied for au Email portability and would like to set up a second and subsequent email addresses, please do so manually.

  • This is because if you do the automatic settings (profile download), the settings would be overwritten.

    On the au Email portability application completion screen, tap on "Confirm ID and password required for email setting" [メール設定に必要な・ID パスワードを確認する]

    Alternatively, after logging in to the My page of the au Email portability, tap on "Mail App Settings" [メールアプリの設定] and "Check ID and password needed for mail setting" [メール設定に必要な ID・パスワードを確認する].

    Take note of the following information required for manual configuration of Email setting information. 

    After taking notes, return to the home screen.

    • Password
    • IMAP server
    • SMTP server

    From the home screen, tap on "Settings" [設定].

    Enter your name (any name), the email address you want to register, and the password noted in step 2. 

    • Enter "Description"[説明] as necessary.

    Select the "IMAP" tab and enter the required items (the items noted in step 2).

    • The username and password are the same for both the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server.
