FAQ about Data Transmission Speed Reduction

If the monthly data allowance exceeds the upper limit of the plan you are using, the transmission speed will be reduced until the end of the month. The customer will be notified by email before and after the transmission speed regulation, when necessary.

  • When will the data transmission speed be restored in case of reduction ?

    It will be restored in the first of the following month.

  • Will there be an additional charge if I continue to use it during the data trasmission speed reduction period?

    No, there will be no additional charges for the data used during that period.

  • Is there another way I can use it until the trasmission speed reduction period ends?
    • Using Wi-Fi or WiMax services

      You can use Wi-Fi at home, au Wi-Fi SPOT, etc., and WiMax service, that are not subject to data transmission speed reduction.

    • Purchasing data with Data Charge

      Even if the data usage has reached the upper limit, data transmission speed can be restored by purchasing a new data.

    • Purchasing data with Data Charge Card

      You can add data with the Data Charge Card, that can be purchased at places such as convenience stores, supermarkets, drug stores, and au PAY Market (au Wowma!) site. 

  • When will I receive the notification email about the data transmission speed reduction?

    You will receive the notification (by SMS or email) before and after the transmission amount reaches the upper limit.

  • I did not receive any email about the data transmission speed reduction

    If your spam filter is set to only receive emails from your recipient list, address book, or mobile phone/PHS, you will not be able to receive notification emails.
