【Spam email/SMS】How should I handle emails I receive stating KDDI, au or My au?

There have been multiple reports of malicious emails and text messages (SMS) that falsely claim to be from our company, leading users to unrelated sites and prompting them to input personal information. There are two ways to deal with it: ① Do not access any contact information (URLs, phone numbers, etc.) mentioned in suspicious emails/text messages (SMS), and ② Set up a spam filter. Please see below for more details.

①Do not access any contact information (URLs, phone numbers, etc.) mentioned in suspicious emails.

By accessing those contact information (URLs, phone numbers, etc.) mentioned in suspicious emails, you may become a victim of fraud.
Please be careful not to contact the sender, such as clicking on URL link or making a phone call.
Regarding charges from au, please directly check on My au or au PAY.

  • Even if a webpage is displayed by accident, please do not input any personal information and close it.

If you entered your au ID information on a phishing site

Please take measures such as changing your password to prevent it from being misused by a third party.

②Set up a spam filter (for au email only)

If there are emails you want to receive, such as from credit card companies or mail order sites

  1. If you have never set up a filter before, first perform the recommended setting (in Japanese only)
  2. Register the email addresses of the senders you want to receive emails from in the reception list settings (in Japanese only)
    • When registering, please check the "Always receive"[必ず受信] item.

    • If you know only part of the sender's email address, you can set it with "Partial Match"[部分一致]

However, as this may apply to multiple email addresses, there is a risk of spam emails slip in

If you only want to receive emails from family members or acquaintances

If you receive spam email from a specific email address

Measures against nuisance SMS

  • Set up the Spam Messages/Calls Block app, which displays a warning for nuisance text messages (SMS) and calls such as fraudulent billing, and automatically displays the caller's name based on Yellow Pages information when receiving calls from public facilities and companies.
