I have forgotten my au 4-digit PIN code and want to reset it or inquire about it (I don't know my current PIN code).

The 4-digit PIN code set by the customer at the time of the contract can be verified via customer copy.

If you do not have your customer copy at hand, see other options below.

  1. Reset to a new number on the website.

    (If you do not fall under the three conditions listed below and you know your au ID/au ID password)

  2. Reset to a new number upon visiting an au Style/au shop.
  3. Request your current number via mail.
  • If any of the following three conditions applies, you will not be able to reset your 4-digit PIN code via website. Please choose to either reset to a new number at an au Style/au shop or request your current number via mail.
    • You do not know either the current 4-digit PIN code, or the au ID and au ID password.

    • The line you have forgotten the the 4-digit PIN code for is under a corporate contract.

    • The line you have forgotten the the 4-digit PIN code for has a registered user.

  • The 4-digit PIN code is your confidential information. The customer center cannot provide it over the phone. If urgent, we recommend resetting it via website.

  • If you incorrectly input your 4-digit PIN code three times in a row, your service will be locked and you will not be able to operate it for a day. The lock will be lifted the following day.

  • 4-digit PIN code and au ID password are different items.
    • 4-digit PIN code: A 4-digit number set by the customer at the time of the new contract for a smartphone or tablet, and others.

    • au ID: The default au ID is the phone number.

    • au ID password: Set by the customer during the initial setup. It is set with a mix of eight or more alphanumeric characters (symbols allowed). Example: 1234abcd.

① To reset on the web (when you know your au ID)

To reset your 4-digit PIN code, access the "Reset PIN code Page" [暗証番号の再設定ページ] via the link below.

  • Please turn off Wi-Fi before the procedure.
  • You can only reset your 4-digit PIN code from the au mobile phone you wish to reset (not possible from a computer).
  • The 4-digit PIN code that was set in the past cannot be set again.

② To reset at an au Style/au shop

After making a reservation via "au Style/au shop Visit Reservation", the contracting party (for corporate contracts, the representative or employee) must visit the store in person and be sure to bring the following items.

The contract holder must do the procedure at the store in person, even in case of a user is registered.

  • Documents that can verify you are a employee

③ Request your current number via mail

We will send a document stating the current 4-digit PIN code to your contract address via registered mail. Please contact the au Customer Center.

Reference

If any of the following conditions apply, there is a high possibility that you are being requested to input a number other than the au 4-digit PIN code.

<Asked to input when you turn on a device such as a smartphone or mobile phone>

Both are locks to prevent unauthorized use by third parties. However, neither lock is enabled unless set by the customer themselves.

Lock Number

If you put a lock on the phone screen, a number (4 to 16 digits) is required to unlock it.

  • You may also have set a password that includes alphabetic characters.

PIN1 code

This is the lock number of SIM card used for communication service (4 digits). 

<Asked to input 5 or more characters>

If 8 or more digits are required, it is likely to be the password for services such as your au ID.

au ID Password

Password required to use au services such as My au and au PAY.

Apple ID Password

Password required to use the Apple services, such as using an app (App Store) on an iPhone or iPad.

Google Account Password

Password required mainly for using services provided by Google, such as using an app (Google Play) on an Android smartphone.

In addition, if a password is required for use with specific service or website, the password set by the service provider may be used. Please check the help page of the service provider.
