How to use

Prepaid services are very easy to use. All you have to do is buy a prepaid phone and prepaid card and register for usage start-up. And if you want to continue using prepaid services, just register each new prepaid card. You can also check the registered balance and remaining usage days.

  • * You will not be charged a communications charge if you dial 1400 or 1407.

Calling with a Prepaid phone

Perfect if you need a mobile phone for a very short time only. SMS (C-mail) is available with CDMA prepaid phones.

Making an international call

au prepaid services let you make international calls without requiring a contract. Click on the link above to see calling instructions and charges.

Calling with a standard au phone

You can also call using your current au phone and a prepaid card. This is very convenient if you want to make separate payments for business and personal calling charges.

Registration instructions

If you are using this service for the first time, first you register for usage start-up.
Follow these same instructions when registering additional prepaid cards.

  1. Dial 1400 on your prepaid phone.
  2. Following the voice guidance, dial 1 (card registration).
  3. Next, dial the 16 digit card number on the back of the prepaid card, and then press # at the end.
  4. This completes registration of usage start-up.
    Your balance and remaining usage days are announced after registration is completed.
  • * If you enter in a wrong digit, press the * button to re-enter the information.
  • * Please be aware that if you enter incorrect information several times, you may not be able to use this service.
  • * Please be aware that if you register for usage start-up late at night or register a card late at night during the card re-registration period, it might take some time before you can receive calls.

Instructions on checking registered balance and remaining usage days

  1. Dial 1400 on your prepaid phone.
  2. Following the voice guidance, dial 2 (balance check).
  3. Your registered balance and the remaining usage days at the time at which the check is performed are announced.

Selecting voice guidance in a foreign language

You can select voice guidance in a foreign language.
If you do not select a foreign language, all voice guidance will be in Japanese.

  1. Dial 1407 on your prepaid phone.
  2. Select a language following the voice guidance.

    1 Japanese　2 English　3 Portuguese　4 Korean　5 Chinese　6 Thai

  3. Selection complete.
    All future voice guidance will be in the language you selected.
