  13. In order to prevent fraudulent multiple contracts being concluded under a single contractor name, the total number of subscriptions that can be concluded under a single contractor name is limited to five, as a general rule.
  14. In order to prevent the use of a mobile phone on a fraudulent contract that was concluded using falsified identification for the purpose of committing crimes such as bank transfer phone scams, KDDI may provide to the relevant identification-issuing authority the information listed on the driver's license or other identification documents presented at the time of application. Please be aware that these measures are in place to assure more accurate personal identification.

Personal Credit Agreement(Contracts from au shops, Pipit, mass retailers, etc.)

Before making an application, you must read and agree to, the content in this section as well as the items in the Personal Credit Agreement, the "About the purpose of use of personal information" section, and the au communications service contract application (including any pertinent parts regarding Personal Credit).

  1. The Personal Credit is a payment method for au-designated mobile phones purchased by customers at distributors. With this method, KDDI pays the distributor the cost of the mobile phone less a down payment-the amount of which differs from distributor to distributor-on behalf of the customer upon signing the Personal Credit Agreement with the customer. The customer is required to pay back the cost to KDDI in installments. The cost can be paid in either 12, 24 or 36 installments (no commission charged in either case).
  2. The Personal Credit Agreement is deemed to be concluded when KDDI accepts a customer's application and notifies the distributor to that effect.
  3. KDDI charges the first installment payment the second month following the month after the Personal Credit Agreement is concluded. However, it may be postponed to the month thereafter or later depending on the usage of au communication services.
  4. Each installment payment is charged together with au communication service charges every month. However, the payment method and due date differ from those for au communication services.
  5. The Personal Credit Agreement is a separate agreement from the au mobile subscription contract. Therefore, even if customers owning installments cancel or suspend au mobile subscription, they are still required to pay the installments. Customers can choose to pay the remaining balance of installments in full when making an application for cancellation or suspension of au mobile subscription, and terminate the Personal Credit Agreement.
  6. If you purchase a mobile phone or other product through a Personal Credit Agreement and use Instant P Discount or points, you can allocate the Instant P Discount or points to the down payment and monthly installment payment. The amount allocated to the monthly installment payment starts from the first invoice and the remaining amount is carried over to the following months. The amount allocated is limited to the amount offered at the time you apply to the Personal Credit Agreement and this amount cannot be increased or decreased after the Personal Credit Agreement takes effect. Take note that the Instant P Discount or points offered are collectively subtracted at the moment the Personal Credit Agreement takes effect.
  7. If the right to use au communication services is transferred, it is necessary to pay the entire remaining balance of installment payments under the Personal Credit Agreement in one lump sum. If au communication services themselves are transferred or assigned, the Personal Credit Agreement is also transferred or assigned accordingly.
  8. Pursuant to the provisions in the Installment Sales Act, when applying to and after the Personal Credit Agreement is in effect, the personal credit information of the contractor, including payment status, is inquired and registered with a credit information agency specified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Registered contractor information may be used by other members of specified credit information agencies. Also please note that a record of information of overdue payments is retained at specified credit agencies for 5 years after the completion of payments, and may lead to a denial when applying for credit, loans, etc.

About the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement(for contracts from au NAGOYA, au OSAKA, etc.)

Before making an application, you must read and agree to, the content in this section as well as the items in the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement, the "About the purpose of use of personal information" section, and the au communications service contract application (including any pertinent parts regarding Individual Installment Purchases).

  1. An individual installment purchase is a payment method in which the payment of the purchase price (excluding any amount that KDDI separately sets as a down payment) is made in installments to KDDI when you purchase a mobile phone or other product designated by KDDI from KDDI. Payments can be made in 12, 24, and 36 installments (all of which do not incur an installment payment fee).
  2. The Individual Installment Purchase Agreement takes effect when KDDI accepts the customer application.
  3. Charges for installment payments are billed from the second month following application of the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement. However, the charges may be billed from the third month following the application depending on the status of the au communication services.
  4. Monthly installment payments are billed together with the monthly usage charges for au communications services. The payment method and payment date is the same as for the usage charges for au communications services.
  5. The Individual Installment Purchase Agreement is a separate contract from an au contract. For this reason if the au contract is cancelled or suspended during the payment period of the installment payments, the payment for the installment payments continues. The Individual Installment Purchase Agreement can be ended by collectively paying the remaining amount of the installment payments anytime during the payment period or when applying to cancel or suspend an au contract.
  6. If you purchase a mobile phone or other product through an Individual Installment Purchase Agreement and use Instant P Discount or points, you can allocate the Instant P Discount or points to the down payment and monthly installment payment. The amount allocated to the monthly installment payment starts from the first invoice and the remaining amount is carried over to the following months. The amount allocated is limited to the amount offered at the time you apply to the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement and this amount cannot be increased or decreased after the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement takes effect. Take note that the Instant P Discount or points offered are collectively subtracted at the moment the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement takes effect.
  7. If the right to use au communications services is transferred, the remaining amount of installment payments for the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement must be paid in full beforehand. If the inheritance of au communications services is agreed, the inheritance of the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement is also agreed.
  8. When applying to and after the Individual Installment Purchase Agreement is in effect, the personal credit information of the contractor, including payment status, is inquired and registered with a credit information agency specified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Registered contractor information may be used by other members of specified credit information agencies. Also please note that a record of information of overdue payments is retained at specified credit agencies for 5 years after the completion of payments, and may lead to a denial when applying for credit, loans, etc.

Security Code

  1. The Security Code registered when contracting an au mobile phone is used to check the identity of the customer when he/she makes an inquiry or modifies registered information through the Customer Support Center, interactive voice response, or EZweb, as well as when he/she uses various services. This code is critical for personal identification, so be sure not to forget it.
  2. Security Code safekeeping is the responsibility of the contracting person. Even if the code is used by anyone other than the contracting person, KDDI handles this use of the code as being by the contracting person.
  3. The Security Code is used mainly in the following processes:

    • When customers change registered information such as address, check charges, add/change price/discount plans, and apply for mobile number porting to another carrier, through the Customer Support Center, interactive voice response, or EZweb.
    • When customers change settings of E-mail through EZweb.
    • If using au Kantan Kessai (Easy Payment)
    • If initializing the security code that is used for au Combined Billing and EZ fee-based information services.
    • When customers remotely operate the Answering Service (Voice Mail) or the incoming call forwarding service using a fixed-line phone.

Smartphone Usage

  1. The user must set user IDs, passwords and other information to use applications. The user is responsible for making these settings.
  2. Once entered, user IDs, passwords and other information are stored in the smartphone and will not need to be reentered under normal circumstances. Do not enter user IDs or passwords belonging to other people.
  3. The smartphone address book is unique to each model, and cannot be copied by au offices. Users are urged to maintain their own backups.
  4. Smartphones are constantly connected to the Internet and may upload/download information automatically under application control, which can result in high packet transmission charges. Packet transmission discount services such as IS Flat LTE Flat are recommended.
  5. If packet communications used overseas are not eligible for World Flat-rate Data or Overseas Double-Teigaku, the cost may become high. For this reason, we recommend to configure the settings that suit your usage by turning off apps and functions that automatically perform packet communications, such as automatic synchronization or automatic reception of email.
  6. For WIN, users are urged to contract for the IS NET course (¥300/month), or automatically utilize au.NET at ¥500/month. For LTE, if you use internet connection services, you must subscribe to either of "LTE NET" or "LTE NET for DATA".

For the use of LTE/VoLTE services

  1. For LTE NET packet communication, you must optimize the communication to accelerate indication velocity on the display or start time for replaying in relation to;
Image file: BMP, jpg, gif, PNG format
Animation file: MPEG, AVI, MOV, FLV, MP4, 3GP, WebM, ASF, WM format

    • * The optimization means any action of compressing images to such size as may be suitable for smartphone displays, or converting animation into a codec format which performs a more effective transmission.

Compressed or converted data cannot be restored.
    • * HTTPS communication and files attached to Email are not subject to the optimization.
    • * LTE NET for DATA is also subject to the optimization for smartphone communication.
    • * Customers who do not need the communication optimization will make an application for exclusion at customer center (#157).
  2. For the purpose of improving the quality for service areas, upon call or data communication, the quality, wave situations, and location (GPS information) may be collected. The information so collected will be only used for improving the quality for service areas. We will not collect the contents of communication nor will identify any of customers.

    • * How to invalidate the function, you should refer to the manual for your applicable cellular phones.
  3. Sync Call is available for customers using devices that support VoLTE.

    • Sync Call has a function that allows you take an incoming voice call without leaving the screen you are operating when operating your device and functions that allow you to share with your caller the screen displayed during a voice call, your location and your caller's location, images being taken with the camera, and handwritten memos (hereafter Sync Functions). Packet communication is incurred when using data communication services (Web browsing, etc.) during a call and when using the Sync Functions.
    • The Sync Call app uses your Address Book information to display your caller's information when receiving an incoming call and during a call.
    • When using Sync Functions, registration information, in the form of a unique identifier consisting of your phone number, is periodically sent via packet communication from your phone to KDDI's server.
    • In order to make Sync Functions more convenient, the information regarding whether Sync Functions are available is checked on our server for your caller who is registered to your Address Book. If the information exists on the server, the screen of your device indicates that your caller can use Sync Functions. In addition, if Sync Functions are available for phone numbers registered to your Address Book, the information is acquired from our server and the screen of the Address Book indicates that Sync Functions are available. Packet communication is incurred when acquiring the information from our server.
    • In order to make Sync Call more convenient, KDDI will collect and analyze data about the number of incoming voice calls, settings of the Sync Call app, and usage conditions of Sync Calls (including communications histories) via packet communication.
    • Packet communication generated during the use of Sync Call incurs communication charges.
    • After Sync Functions become available, Sync Calls can be stopped from "Settings" in the Sync Call app.

I also consent that, if the applicant purchases a mobile phone with a personal credit arrangement, the applicant may sign the "Personal Credit Agreement" with KDDI Corporation, and that the applicant may choose to pay the remaining balance of the installments in full in the middle of the installment payment period. [1] In addition, I also consent that payment may be made for the au communication services provided to the applicant using the designated credit card [2], and that, should payment be delayed, I will make efforts to resolve the matter.

Unless the parent/guardian expressly shows their intention not to use the service, it is deemed that they have agreed to use the "Safety Access Service Category Restriction Course." However, elementary school children or younger customers must always use the "Safety Access Service Site Restriction Course" (excluding smartphone contracts). Please be aware that, in accordance with the above law, parents/guardians of children under 18 are required to apply for Filtering Services.
For details of the Safety Access Service, please see the "Safety Access Service" (a Filtering Service)section below.
