The data roaming service area in Thailand has been expanded as of February 27, 2009.
The Global Passport CDMA area in Hong Kong has been expanded as of January 23, 2009.
To customers traveling abroad near the end or beginning of a year: Be sure to update your phone with the latest PRL before your departure.
As of November 16, 2005, Global Passport CDMA service cannot be used in Pattani, Narathiwat, and Yala Provinces in southern Thailand.
For users of A5514SA, A1305SA or A1303SA handsets: Please purchase an electrical plug that fits the outlets of the country to which you are traveling.

Our service area covers 73% of the most popular destinations for overseas travelers from Japan. Absolutely no special procedures or fixed charges are necessary to use your phone abroad. Calling charges are billed along with your phone usage in Japan, so payment is easy.

Compatible phone models let you download maps with local information! Check sightseeing, dining, shopping and other information before you depart, then see it displayed on a map with your current location while you’re traveling.

Notes

GLOBAL PASSPORT CDMA is available to new au subscribers two days after the first day of use in Japan. For customers switching from a handset that is incompatible with GLOBAL PASSPORT CDMA to a model that is compatible, service is available at the time of completion of the switching procedures.
Mode setting is required for each country or region.
For users of WIN Global Passport compatible models or the A5527SA, A5514SA, or A5505SA, please use EZweb to download the overseas communications carrier's PRL (roaming area information) before your departure (information charges are free; communications charges are free within Japan, and charged at EZweb communications rates from overseas), and update the roaming area information stored on your phone.
Be sure to perform initial EZweb settings before leaving Japan.
The available service area varies by phone model.
Calling charges are also incurred when receiving an incoming call while overseas.

GLOBAL PASSPORT Handset Rental Service
If the au phone you use in Japan is not a GLOBAL PASSPORT service area compatible model, you can still use the GLOBAL PASSPORT service by removing the au IC-Card from your au phone and inserting it into a compatible rental handset.
