We are sorry to say that most of au phones are designed for au mobile phone system, and they don't work outside of Japan. In addition they can not be purchased outside of Japan,and we do not provide them online. They can be purchased only in Japan with subscription.
However, "GLOBAL PASSPORT CDMA" - compatible models are available in overseas depending on countries and areas. And au IC cards (epuipped with au IC card compatible models) are available with specific NOKIA models in overseas; the service is called "GLOBAL PASSPORT GSM".

In order to call au phone, please dial as follows; international prefix number of your country, country code of Japan (81), and au phone number omitting the first 0 (80/90**** ****).

C-1. New Subscription |

"I want to buy a new mobile phone and sign up for a new au subscription. What do I do?" |

You can apply for subscription and purchase an au phone at your nearby au Shop, PiPit, or other au-affiliated retail outlets. Please note that the applicant must come to the store and apply in person.
The documents that you must bring will vary depending on whether you are applying for a corporate or personal subscription, and which type of payment method you intend to use.
For more information about the documents you need to prepare, please see "What You Need to Apply" and select the example that corresponds to your needs. Also required costs include the purchase of the handset as well as any desired accessories and peripheral equipment,and the au subscription contract handling fee of ¥2,700. (This fee will be invoiced together with the first month of charges following the new subscription.)

C-2. Model Change |

"I want to change my au phone model. What do I do?" |

You can change your au phone model at your nearby au Shop, PiPit, or other au-affiliated retail outlets. Please note that a susbscriber must come to the store and apply in person. (Other shops are available for Model Change than the shops where you purchased your present model.)
Please bring the following items when you go to the shop for Model Change.

C-3. Lost & Stolen |

"I lost my au phone. What shall I do?" |

When your au phone is lost or stolen, please call au Customer Center as soon as possible, an operator will suspend your service temporarily so that some one else would not use your phone.
- There is no handling fee for the procedure, however, the contract is not canceled and the basic monthly fee is charged during the suspension.

C-4. Cancellation |

"I'm leaving Japan soon. How do I terminate my au account?" |

In order to cancel your au account, please visit your nearest au shop with your au phone and your ID. The day you apply for cancellation at au shop will be the cancellation date.
The following discount services may cause cancellation fee depending on the usage period.
- Annual Discount, Student Discount, Smile-heart Discount, Personal Discount
Please be careful not to forget cancellation procedure before you leave Japan for your country. Otherwise, billing for basic monthly fee will continue even after you stop using.

In case of payment by credit card,monthly charges are billed from credit card company a few month after the usage month.

D-2. Price Plans |

"What is a price plan?" |

 |
Your basic monthly charges and calling charges are determined by your selection of a price plan.
You should carefully select a price plan according to your frequency of phone usage. Also if you use a price plan in combination with the right discount service, you can enjoy significant savings on calls with your au phone. However, please note that certain discount services may not be used in combination with certain price plans.

D-3. Rental & Prepaid Phone |

"I will visit Japan and stay there for a while, Do you have rental service of au phone? Or do you have prepaid phone service?" |

We are sorry that we do not provide rental service of au phones.
Meanwhile, we have prepaid phones that work with au prepaid card. In order to use au prepaid phone, you need to purchase it with subscription. What you need for prepaid subscription is the same as a case of new subscription.

We have English Owner's Manual, for some models. However, we do not provide "au Music Port" software in English, very sorry to say.
